Consulting

Strategy/ Ideation/ Brainstorming

Development is a complex process and therefore it is important to understand the context of the business before initiating the task. It is at the “Getting the Brief” stage where the client and our team discuss the project at length to understand the company’s goals. The more information the client provides initially, the better the results will be.

In the process of ideation/brainstorming, we keep the client requirements as the base of our research and analysis and only after reviewing the brief given, do we move on to the next stage. Once the ideas start to flow in, we transfer them on pages in the form of text, visuals, symbols and shapes. This sketching down of ideas on the paper is an important step as the developers and the designers can examine all options, ideas, possible angles and directions.

The strategy formation is also based on the evaluation of the information we have received and this makes it easy for the developers and the designers to understand the communication or message to be conveyed to the audience. This phase also allows us to discuss unclear aspects of the project with the client and get clarity.

This approach of ideation or brainstorming has many benefits like:

  • Gain a fresh point of view for a business or project
  • Challenge our mindset to discover new directions
  • This process helps promote creative flow

Requirements Documentation

This is a critical step of our consultation process as it helps in building the requirement document. In this step, the complete interaction with the client is compiled. We create a defined structure, detailed documentation and analyze all the functionalities and business rules. This document or functional specifications is then shared with the teams who are going to be work on the project. The basic aim is to develop the idea into a concrete feature set for design and prototyping.

This detailed documentation is then shared with the client for approval or any suggested changes or additions.

Listed below are some of the benefits of a functional specifications document:

  • Explains users, goals, tasks and activities
  • Errors or corrections can be highlighted quick and at an early stage
  • Missing requirements can be highlighted and can help define expected system or behaviour
  • Helps define functionality

Information Architecture

Information architecture or a sitemap is the art of organizing a website to support usability.

The elements of IA include:

  • Search systems
  • Navigation systems
  • Labeling systems and tags
  • Organization schemes or structures

A good Information Architecture (IA) results in a sound UX and good quality of software product.

Here are 3 reasons why we suggest creating an AI for a product:

  • Project Scope: Information architecture provides better clarity in decision-making and a better understanding of the project scope. This helps the project developers to provide more accurate information with regards to estimates to the project managers and the clients. It also gives a better understanding of how deep the UX and how many layers or levels are there in the project i.e. how many clicks it takes to complete a task or reach a screen in the project
  • Content Gaps: Information architecture is about logically organizing information. This helps the developer understand what content fits where and what content is missing. It also helps segregate the content based on how necessary it is and where it is being used or duplicated.
  • In and Out View of the product: An Information Architecture acts as a blueprint to map interaction paths. A good AI helps us to see the bigger picture and that helps us to manage and execute the product better. It also gives a better grasp of the basic functionalities of a website or a product.
